Competition for schools
The GDR journey through time - everyday life and revolt
is a virtual reality experience that takes you and your students on a compact, approx. 12-minute journey through over 40 years of GDR history. With the VR goggles on your head, you will find yourself in numerous scenes ranging from the end of the war in 1945 to the building of the Berlin Wall and the fall of the Berlin Wall.
If your school has not yet integrated virtual reality into lessons, this is a unique opportunity for your students to experience what they have been taught so far for themselves.
The VR glasses are easily controlled via tablet. You will find written instructions enclosed.
To do this, we would like to know what your class or course would really like to experience on a journey back in time. We would like to know what your class’s top 3 time travel experiences would be. For example: “We want to discover America with Christopher Columbus.” Get creative together and design your top 3 as a collage, photo, video or podcast, to name just a few possibilities.

Conditions of participation and data protection
TIMERIDEGmbH, Gundelindenstr. 2, 80805 Munich, hereinafter referred to as TIMERIDE, is giving away the TIMERIDE-DDR time travel suitcase, which will be awarded to the winning school for 14 days. The exact dates will be agreed in advance with the winning school. The basis for the loan is the loan agreement – DDR-Zeitreise suitcase set with the processing and shipping fee of €250 per loan waived. By participating in the competition, the user agrees to the following conditions of participation and the content.
What can you win?
By taking part, you have the chance to win the GDR time travel suitcase from TIMERIDE on loan and use it for a week free of charge. It contains 5 VR glasses and an instruction manual. Virtual reality allows your students to immerse themselves in history and visually illustrates the history of the GDR in a compact 12 minutes. You can play them as often as you like within the 14 days.
How can you win?
Please send the answer to the competition question with the subject “Time travel” to . The prize will be raffled off among all participants.
Over what period will the campaign take place?
The campaign starts when the mailing is sent to schools and ends on 31.07.2024. Participants can take part in the competition until this date. TIMERIDEwill then contact the winning school and agree on the period during which the GDR time travel suitcase will be awarded.
Who can take part?
Participation is free of charge and open to any natural person resident in Germany. Participation requires the truthful provision of relevant data. Sweepstakes clubs and automated sweepstakes services are not eligible to participate. You can only take part once in each prize draw. Multiple entries will be ignored.
Who is excluded from participation?
TIMERIDE is entitled to exclude individual persons from participation if there are justified reasons, such as violation of these conditions of participation, double or multiple participation, manipulation, etc., and reserves the right to take legal action. Employees of TIMERIDE and their relatives may not take part in this competition. Legal recourse is excluded.
How is the winner determined?
If all entry requirements have been met, the most creative entry will be selected at the end of the competition and the winning school will be notified.
How do I find out if I have won?
TIMERIDEwill notify you by e-mail.
How do I receive my prize?
You will only receive your prize or information on how to claim your prize digitally by e-mail.
What happens if I do not contact you after I have been notified of my winnings?
If the winner does not respond within 14 days of notification, the prize will be forfeited. There is no further entitlement to compensation.
Is my profit transferable?
It is not possible to transfer winnings.
Reservation clause
TIMERIDE reserves the right to modify, interrupt or terminate the competition at any time without prior notice and without giving reasons. TIMERIDEwill only make use of this option if, for reasons of force majeure, for technical reasons (e.g. viruses in the computer system, manipulation or errors in the hardware and/or software) or for legal reasons, the proper execution of the game cannot be guaranteed. TIMERIDEis not liable for losses, failures or delays caused by circumstances beyond our control.
Data protection regulations
The processing of your personal data is necessary to carry out the competition. At the end of the competition, all details will be deleted.
Miscellaneous
Cash payment of winnings is not possible. Legal recourse is excluded. Should individual provisions of the conditions of participation be or become invalid, this shall not affect the validity of the remaining conditions of participation. It shall be replaced by an appropriate provision that comes closest to the purpose of the invalid provision. TIMERIDEreserves the right to change the conditions of participation at any time
