TIMERIDE SPECIALS Cologne
Cologne 1945 - Between ruins and hope
In Special Cologne 1945 you experience the city after 12 years of Nazi rule and 5 years of bombing. You see the massive destruction of the city center, encounter scenes from everyday life between scarcity and improvisation – and at the same time feel the moment of awakening when people return to their city.
A voice that belongs to Cologne like the cathedral will guide you through this journey through time: Wolfgang Niedecken, frontman of BAP – distinctive, authentic and close. Narrated in a documentary style, emotionally staged and with vivid before-and-after flashbacks.
Cologne musician Björn Heuser is also part of the experience again and will personally accompany you through the experience. The crowning finale of the tour is Willi Ostermann’s immortal “Heimweh noh Kölle” – interpreted by the Bläck Fööss – which brings the tour to an emotional close and sums up the deep bond between the people of Cologne and their city.

The Virtual Reality Train Ride
The highlight of your journey back in time to Cologne in 1945: the VR ride starts in a faithful replica of the historic streetcar. With the VR glasses, you are in the middle of the war-destroyed city with short flashbacks to the undestroyed Cologne and experience everyday scenes from 1945: initial clean-up work, food distribution, people looking for orientation and trying to start again among the rubble.
